Struck by Antony, some say with Cleopatra's silver, to fund his fleet against Octavian at the decisive Battle of Actium, where he was defeated. Named "aes formatum" by Haeberlin, this very rare bronze currency was a precursor to the issues of aes grave but later than aes rude. Nice olive-green patina with light earthen deposits.
